For the pleasure of the soul Comacchio – The Lagoons – Wine of the Sands – Pomposa Abbey

1st day: Bologna – Comacchio Arrival in Comacchio and accommodation in B&B or Hotel in the city centre and meeting with the guide to start the guided tour in the city of Comacchio, called “Little Venice”. During the walking tour to the centre you will discover the charm of this quaint village, between the bridges and the rivers. The city was born on 13 islands connected to each other by only a few bridges and boats. Since 1600 then the bridges were built in stone that you see today. During the tour stop for visit the factory of “Manifattura dei Marinati”, that is home to the processing of eels of small oily fish (the fish is cooked and boxed with a special brine) after this, we can have a taste of typical fish. In the evening facultative dinner in a typical restaurant in the old Quarter of the city.
2 nd day: Comacchio and the Lagoons (by bicycle) Breakfast and meeting with your guide for the transfer by bicycle from Comacchio to the Lagoons (4 km). Arrival and excursion by bicycle or on foot along the banks of the Valleys, home to hundreds of species of birds including pink flamingos, western marsh harrier, Egrets, Herons, etc. … The tour continues to the protected oasis of “Salina of Comacchio” wonderful natural area. Stop lunch in a typical home of lagoon with fish menu. In the afternoon return in the city centre and possibility to visit the Roman Ship Museum of Comacchio. Overnight.
3 rd day: Comacchio – Bicycle and “Wines of the Sands” After breakfast departure by bicycle to the Abbey of Pomposa to visit a wine farm that produces the “Wines of the Sands.” Possibility to visit the vineyard: there are vineyards that have stood for centuries, passing unscathed through the scourge of phylloxera, because places mainly sandy soils, maintaining the un-grafted (natural roots without grafting wild*): for what are called “WINES OF THE SANDS.” Visit the cellar, and then wine tasting with typical products (salami, cheese and cake). In the afternoon stop visit to the Abbey of Pomposa dated back to the ninth century it’s one of the most important of all Northern Italy. The abbey that we admire today was consecrated in 1026 (built before then) by the abbot Guido. End of services. Return to Comacchio in the evening. Night in hotel.
4 th day: End of stay Buffet breakfast in hotel and free time for leisure. End of services.

*during the grape harvest, you can join for a day, in picking grapes and the following processing, together with the owners and workers of the vineyard.
